Billions of searches are done on Google every day. For each keyword entered, only 10 sites will be lucky enough to be on the front page of the search ranking. The competition is fierce and what determines the ranking is a secret that lies in Google’s hundreds of ranking factors.

We are SEO services provider in New York, however, have certainties to be able to do our job well, and the awareness of having to know how to choose the keywords with which to position the website is one of them.

How to choose keywords ? Fortunately, some SERP analysis tools can help us, which can give us multiple information useful for this purpose. The first step is always to find them.

How to find keywords for SEO?

The keyword research (in English ” keyword research “) usually is made through a thorough analysis of the sector in which the website is to compete. Usually, a survey is carried out in order to know in what terms users search for the product of the niche in which they operate.

At the beginning it is good to use software specialized in keyword research. Below we will explain how the best ones work.

Google Keyword Planner

The first keyword research tool I would recommend is the Google Adwords Keyword Planner . Once logged in to Google Adwords , go to the Tools section, then in “Keyword planning tool” and finally select ” Find new keywords and get the search volume data “.

Here we type our keyword (let’s take the example with the key ” keywords “) and give the tool time to process the data. After processing, the Keyword Planner will return a series of keywords indicating the search volumes .

  1. Specifically in this example we will have as a result:
  2. keywords (with 1900 monthly searches)
  3. keyword research (with 320 monthly searches)
  4. keyword tool (with 480 monthly searches)
  5. SEO keywords (with 110 monthly searches)
  6. Google keyword search (with 110 monthly searches)

and so on.

With this tool we can get a precise idea of what keywords to use for our SEO strategy .

The Google Keyword Planner is the only free tool that can also return the search volumes for each search key.

After obtaining our list of keywords, we will have to choose the most suitable ones for our purpose, but this is a speech that we will deal with in the section ”

How to choose the keywords “.

Answer the Public

Many users use to do their research using the exact keyword ( dry keyword ). In our example the dry keyword corresponds to “keywords “.

Another very large slice of users, however, prefers to use complete sentences such as:

  1. how to find keywords
  2. how to use the keyword planner
  3. what is the best SEO course
  4. how can I position my site on Google with keywords
  5. how do I choose the keywords for my site
  6. Etc…

These phrases express precise research intentions to be answered and intercepted, would guarantee a high volume of traffic to the website.

Answer the Public is the ideal tool for this kind of research. The tool, starting from a main keyword, returns the users’ search intentions obtained from the Google database itself ( Google Instant ).

We will get questions and prepositions around the entered keyword. Continuing to use our usual example, we will have:

  1. What are the keywords of a text?
  2. How to choose keywords?
  3. How to find keywords?
  4. Keywords for SEO
  5. Keywords to sell
  6. Keywords for website
  7. Etc…..

In this phase it is good to write down the keywords obtained on an excel sheet in order to then evaluate their search volumes and to finally be able to choose the best ones .

So, having obtained the keywords to work on and the associated search intentions, now it is time to go to use another tool that will tell us which elements Google has already associated with our keywords . This aspect is very important because when we are going to write the optimized text for our search keywords, we will have to make sure that Google understands exactly what we are talking about . The artificial intelligence of this search engine has already associated concepts and terms with various topics. For example, you know that if I use the words “search intentions”, “keywords”, “search engines”, “Google ranking” and “keywords” in my article, I am most likely talking about New York SEO.

SEO Hero

This tool is currently in “beta” version but, even with some sporadic jams, it proves very useful for our purposes.

Operation is very simple. Select the USA language, enter the main key in the text box and send. The processing process takes a long time but, on the other hand, the data obtained are many and precious.

The tool will return us a lot of information. What we need now are contained in the “latent entities and co-occurrences ” section.

If we go to type our usual keyword ” keywords “, the tool returns us:

  1. Website
  2. Google adwords
  3. Search engine
  4. Search volume
  5. Search terms
  6. Google trends
  7. Search Results
  8. Etc……

Developing texts focused on the keywords identified that also contain these terms means showing Google something easy to categorize and index . Once Google categorizes my keyword page in its index as belonging to the SEO topic, it will quickly enter the search ranking shown to users when they type a query on the topic.

How to choose keywords for SEO

SEO choose keywords In reality, with the use of the 3 tools, we have already done a first skimming of the keywords. We will not take all the obtained keywords for good but only those that will seem more relevant to the topic to be treated.

So the time has come to choose the keywords. By copying all the keywords obtained and pasting them in the Google keyword planner in the section seen before, we will obtain a list of keywords with the related search volume.

Some keywords will have a high search volume and others will have zero searches per month . What are the keywords to choose to optimize our article? It depends.

The search keys with high volume are also the most difficult to position because competitors will have had an interest in using them. However, if your site is already very authoritative on Google, do not be afraid to try to position this type of keywords.

For all the others I recommend selecting keywords with a search volume ranging from 30 monthly searches up to 100-150 (it depends on how authoritative the site is). The novices will be able to start from the lower volumes and begin to take some satisfaction.

Choosing the keys, it’s time to type them on Google to see two things:

  1. Who is on the front page for that keyword
  2. What kind of sites are returned by Google for that keyword

Knowing who is on the front page for that keyword will give us the opportunity to analyze the pages of competitors who have positioned themselves so well, highlight their strengths and weaknesses, evaluate their optimization and the status of onpage and offpage optimization. The goal is to create a better page, more optimized and richer in specific content.

Knowing what types of results Google returns for that keyword, on the other hand, will be useful to see if the search engine has associated the query entered with an information or transactional (sale) result. If our site sells products (and we want to sell the product with the page we are going to write and publish) and the first page for our keyword returns only sites with information pages on the subject, we will do well to change the keywords because we will have few possibility to position ourselves worthily. Conversely, if the key returns results in line with our intentions, we can proceed to use it in our article.

Whatever your goal, to position yourself on Google and the other search engines, you need to know both how to find them and how to choose them. Your SEO and the success of the project start from here and depend on it.
